How to Add an External Account to Online Banking

Sierra Pacific members can add checking and savings accounts from other institutions to their online banking profiles to enable transfers between those accounts and their accounts at Sierra.

Before starting this process, you'll need to have:

  • Access to Sierra Pacific online banking for your account

  • The Account and Routing numbers of the external account(s) you want to add

  • Access to online banking for those external accounts

Log in to Sierra's online banking through a browser or the mobile app

See any external accounts already added (click to continue)

This is where you'll be able to see and manage any external accounts you've added in the past.

Add External Account Details (Click to continue)

Account Type - choose if the account is a Checking or a Savings

Account Description - Add a name you'll recognize. Ex: "Bill's Bank of America Checking"

Account Number - Enter the account number of your external account - find this in that account's online banking, checks, or by contacting your institution.

Routing Number = Enter the routing number of your external bank or credit union. This can usually be found on the institution's website.

Look for the Confirmation Notice (Click to continue)

Your external account has been added, but will still be pending for now. You'll need to login and confirm the microdeposits made to your external account to finalize it. It may take up to 2 business days for those deposits to go through.

Click on OK

You're done for now, but remember that your account isn't available for use yet.

Verify External Accounts

Set a reminder in your calendar to check your external account for the microdeposits in 2 business days, then come back to online banking to get verified.

Open the "External Accounts" tool in Sierra's Online Banking

In Sierra's online banking, navigate back to the External Accounts page from the main menu

Choose Your External Account

All your external accounts will be listed here, along with their details and a "Verified" or "Unverified" status.

If your account is "Verified", you're good to go!

If an account is "Unverified", continue these steps to complete verification.

Find Microdeposit Amounts in Your External Accounts Transactions

Open online banking for your other institution. Find the two small deposits amounts in your transactions.

Enter Microdeposit Amounts in Sierra's Online Banking

Back in your Sierra online banking, click the drop-down button on your unverified external account. You'll see spaces to enter two amounts. Enter the microdeposit amounts you found in your other institution's online banking.

Tip: You can also re-name your external account here if you wish

Click "Verify" when complete.

Log Out & In Again

After verifying your microdeposits, you'll need to log out of online banking and then log back in to see your external account(s).

Schedule Your Payment or Transfer

After your external account has been added and verified, create scheduled transfers and loan payments from that account to Sierra. Use the "Transfers" tool in online banking to get started.
