Configuring Downloadable Output Files on Products | GT_PR_008

1. 1. Click on Product variants

   We begin with a newly created product. The downloadable product options are located within its product variant settings.

   

2. 2. Click on Edit

   

3. 3. Navigate to the Info tab

   

4. 4. Check Downloadable product

   Checking this option will reveal a range of additional options allowing us to configure our downloadable product

   

5. 5. Use download URL

   We have two options for specifying which file will be made available for download upon placing an order.

   By clicking Use download URL, we are able to directly provide the URL of a file we have uploaded to other areas within the Infigo system. For example, we could have uploaded a file to the CSS Override area of Infigo. When this is done, a URL is generated. We are able to input this URL on the product which will result in the uploaded file being used as the downloadable output file.

   

6. 6. Upload File

   The second option for providing a file for download is by manually uploading it into this specific product.

   Click Upload a File and select the relevant file from your machine. It will be added to the product, with additional options made available to download a copy of the file or to remove the file from the product.

   

7. 7. Download and Print

   By enabling the Downloadable product options, we automatically assume that the file will not go through the regular print processes (such as sending the print output file to a specified hot folder).

   If we wish for the product to be both downloadable and printed, check this box. This will ensure that the output file will still be sent to any linked hot folders.

   

8. 8. Select a download type

   There are several available options for the download type, providing differing levels of output file resolution and locked states.

   • Normal: Customers can download the PDF in full resolution + not locked.

   • Low Res: Customers can download the PDF in low resolution + not locked.

   • Print Locked: Customers can download the PDF in full resolution + locked.

   • Low Res & Print Locked: Customers can download the PDF in low resolution + locked.

   • Web Optimized: 

   

9. 9. Unlimited downloads

   Specify whether the customer who has ordered the product has an unlimited or limited number of downloads.

   If not unlimited, the administrator has the ability to specify the number of available downloads.

   

10. 10. Number of days

    If the downloadable file should only be available for a set number of days, specify it here.

    

11. 11. Download activation type:

    This option the administrator to specify when the file becomes available for download in a users Account area.

    The two options are either when the order is paid or when the download is manually activated by an admin.

    

12. 12. Sample download file

    Admins have the ability to upload a sample download file which will be available from the product landing page without any order having to be placed.

    

13. 13. Direct download

    This area will keep track of how many times this product has been downloaded.

    

14. 14. Click on Save and Continue Edit

    

15. 15. Click on View product page

    Let's take a look at how these settings function on the front end of our store.

    We will begin by navigating to our sample product's landing page.

    

16. 16. A link is immediately available allowing our users to download the sample file that we have provided.

    

17. 17. Click on Add to basket

    We will add the product to our basket and proceed through the checkout process.

    

18. 18. Once the order has been placed, click on My Orders

    

19. 19. Navigate to the order containing the downloadable product

    

20. 20. Click on Download

    If the order is in a state where the download is available (such as if it is marked as paid) the output file will be available for download.
