Supervisor Guide: How to Review and Approve Absence Certification

Locate and Access the Manager Self Service homepage

  • Upon login to MyPack Portal, most users land on the Employee Self Service (ESS) homepage.

  • Supervisors performing the absence certification will need to navigate to the Manager Self Service Homepage

  • Click on the drop-down menu on the top left of the banner and select the Manager Self Service (MSS) landing page option

Navigate to WolfTime Manager

  • From the Manager Self Service (MSS) landing page select the WolfTime Manager tile

Navigate to the Apprv/Review Abs Certification tab

  • From the WolfTime Manager page click on the Apprv/Review Abs Certification tab.  


Note: If a Supervisor gets an HTTP 400 error when they try to Approve an employee's certification, they should try clearing their cache (or using a different browser) and then try again.

Select Search Criteria

  • From the Approve Absence Certification page, certifications can be searched by Status and at least one other criteria from Employee ID, Department ID, and Year.
    Note: Update the "Year" criteria field to isolate search results to a specific year

  • Status may be In Progress, Complete, or Cancelled.

    • In Progress - requires Supervisor Approval

    • Complete - allows a Supervisor to review previous Approved Certifications

    • Cancelled - allows a Supervisor to review previous Cancelled Certifications

Example Search Criteria

  • For example, to search for all direct reports’ leave certifications for the year 2023 that are awaiting approval, we would type 2023 in the Year field and select In Progress in the Status field as shown below

  • Click Search to retrieve the employees who meet those conditions

Click on the Absence Certification you wish to review

Review Absence Certification

  • This page allows Supervisors to review their employee’s balances for the year being certified as well as any comments the employee left during certification

  • For each leave type, the table shows the amount of leave rolled over from the previous year, the amount earned, the amount taken, the amount adjusted, and the ending balance

  • Supervisors can click any red value in the table for a month-by-month breakdown of that value

  • Clicking the value for Sick Leave Taken takes us to a table that shows how much sick leave was taken each month to reach that total

  • Review the month-by-month breakdown as necessary

  • Click the Cancel button to return to the primary table

Approve Absence Certification

  • Leave a Comment as necessary

  • Click the Approve button to agree with the Absence Certification submitted

  • Click the Deny button to reject an Absence Certification submitted by a direct report

    • Denying an absence certification always requires a comment indicating the reason

    • The employee will be able to recertify absence balances again after reviewing the supervisor comments and making any necessary adjustments

What happens next?

  • The status on the Absence Certification will update to Complete

    • Leave Coordinator Approval is not required if the Supervisor Approves the Absence Certification

  • The employee will receive email confirmation when Absence Certification has been Approved

  • Comments will be recorded in Comment History
