Steps to Share Files on Google Drive

Use this method if you are leaving RCHK and have a new Google account.

Go to drive.google.com for RCHK.

If the files you want to transfer are in My Drive, click on My Drive. If the files are in Shared Drive, jump to Step 22 (you can scroll or click on 22 on the left navigation bar).

By holding SHIFT, clicking a start file/folder, then an end file/folder, you can select multiple files/folders at once.

Click on the Share icon.

Enter the email address for your new school/personal account (where the files will go to).

Ensure the new account is an "Editor" and click "Share." The window will show you all the files/folders that you are about to share.

Now move to your new Google Drive account. To do so, click on your RCHK account in the top right corner of the window.

Click on your new Google account. You may have to "Add another account" and enter your new Google account details.

In your new Google Drive account, click on "Shared with me"

Find the files/folders that you want to transfer to your new Google account. Notice your RCHK account is the owner: you need to make a copy.

Click on the files that you want to copy (you cannot copy entire folders). Again, you can hold SHIFT or COMMAND to select multiple files.

Click on the 3 vertical dots (More).

Click on "Make a copy."

Once they are copied, notice the owner of the files is "me." Select the copies.

You can now drag those files into My Drive on your new account.

Now that you are the owner of the files and the originals are still intact, you can "Change who has access" and "Move" the files. Click "Move."

You will notice that your new account is the owner of the file(s).

Once your new Google Drive account opens, click on Shared drives.

Now that you have added your new Google account as Manager, you can view and edit the RCHK shared drive. Find the folder/files you want and make copies. For instructions on making copies, see Step 13 above.
