Create A New Workflow

23 Steps

On Relay.App you go ahead and create a New Workflow to start

1

Click on New workflow

Lets go ahead and start by creating the workflow.

Click on New workflow
2

The first thing you'll want to do is Add a Trigger

This is what initiates the workflow/automation

The first thing you'll want to do is Add a Trigger
3

Go Ahead and Title Your Workflow

I titled this workflow Reschedule Overdue Task(s)

4

Selected Scheduled Trigger

Reason being is that you can either have this run everyday or whenever you please. I have mine set to everyday to reschedule all my uncomplete tasks

Selected Scheduled Trigger
5

Schedule Multiple Runs

Assuming you will have more than one tasks each time this runs, go ahead and select Start multiple runs on a schedule

6

Select Notion as the App

Select Notion as the App
7

Select The Database Where your Tasks Are

My Tasks live in, well you guessed it, "Task Database"

Select The Database Where your Tasks Are
8

Select Only trigger runs for pages that match filters

The reason for this is that you want to filter out the tasks we are wanting rescheduled, you don't want to reschedule your entire tasks list.

Select Only trigger runs for pages that match filters
9

Add Filters

The first filter you want to add is the Status Filter. We wan to filter only the set of Tasks with these particular Status. In the example, it will only trigger for tasks that are NOT Archived or Done. So any other Status (Overdue, Not Started, Started, etc) will be the ones that are rescheduled.

The second and third filters you want are Due On and Done On. Due On, we want it to only reschedule tasks that are "In the past" and that don't have a Done On date because it hasn't been completed.

Make sure you set up your notion tasks to either mark the completed date when you change it to done or you'll have to manually do that.

Add Filters
10

Set up The Schedule

You can set the schedule however you want it, in my case I want this to run before midnight everyday so I have the Overdue tasks in front of me the next morning.

Select Update Page

We want to use "Update Page" as this will trigger the tasks to change the status and the due date of the tasks.

Select Update Page
14

Select The Task That It is Updating

In this case, Object 1 would be the task. When this workflow is triggered, this will run multiple times (in bulk) until it has scheduled all the tasks that are needing to be rescheduled.

Select The Task That It is Updating
15

Specify The Fields Being Update

In this case, we want to update the Status to Overdue

16

Specify Next Due Date

You'll want to select Due On -> Start -> Reference Date

Specify Next Due Date
17

Select Workflow Run Start Date

This will reference when this was triggered

18

Add 1 Day to the Reference Date

This is the step that rescheduled to the following day. You can also change this however you like.

You don't need anything on this part.
