How to Create a New PowerSchool Parent Portal Account

Open the internet browser on your computer. Visit https://hoovercs.powerschool.com/public. You will need to create an account in an internet browser and cannot create an account through the app.

Enter the Parent Account details EXACTLY as they are listed on your PowerSchool Parent Portal letter. Create the username and password that you desire.

You will need the Access ID and Access Password located on the PowerSchool Parent Portal letter you received from your school. Each student will receive their own letter.

If you have multiple children in the Hoover City School System and have all of their letters, you can enter in all of their information here.

If you have multiple children in the Hoover City School System but DO NOT have all of their letters at this time, you can enter the ones you have and link the rest of your children to your existing account once you receive their information

Once you enter all student's access information and click the "Enter" button to create the account, an email will be sent to the email address entered during the account creation process to validate your account. After that validation has occurred, you will be able to login to your new parent portal account at https://hoovercs.powerschool.com/public/home.html or using the PowerSchool Mobile app located in the IOS and Google Play app store. The district code for the mobile app is GXWQ.

The Grades and Attendance tab will allow you to check assignments and scores by clicking on the blue percentage across from a class. To email the teacher a question or concern, please click the blue teacher's name link. The Grades History tab will show you the grades your child received in previous grading periods. The Teacher Comments tab is used to access current teacher comments for your student and the School Bulletin tab has current accountments for your school.
