How to Apply for a New EFIN

Use these instructions when you want to apply for a new EFIN after you've already been assigned one and passed the suitability check.

  1. 1. Go to E-file Provider Services | Internal Revenue Service

  4. 4. After you login and get authenticated, this is the screen you should see. You want to click on "individual".

  5. 5. Click on NEW APPLICATION & then click "e-file Application" from the drop down arrow.

  6. 6. Start the Process of Completing the Application. When you get finished, input your pin and select submit. Your EFIN should be issued within 24 hours.
