Guests: Signing in at ventureLAB

Hello and welcome to ventureLAB!

The Markham Innovation Space is only accessible to badgeholders and their guests. We require every guest to sign in when they arrive on the iPad in the entrance to ensure our members' safety, abide by IBM's security requirements, and to monitor foot traffic in the space. This guide explains to visitors how the guest sign in process works and what they need to do when they arrive.

Note: As a guest, you need to know the full name of the employee (or member) hosting you since you will be asked to provide it during the sign in process.

Tap anywhere on the screen

You may also scan the QR code on the screen for contactless sign in. When you scan the code, it will take you to a webpage on your phone which will walk you through the same sign in process as below. The only difference is that you don't have to touch the iPad screen.

Enter your name

This field is asking about the guest's name

Enter your email

This field is asking about the guest's email address

Enter the name of your ventureLAB host (employee or member)

Note that your host must be a ventureLAB badgeholder (and must be physically in the space) to let you in. If your host is not a member, their name will not come up and you will not be able to sign in. If you are a walk-in guest and would like an impromptu tour, type in 'VentureLAB Admin' and if someone is available, they provide a tour. This is not guaranteed, however. The best way to schedule a tour is to get in touch with us first and pre-set a time with a staff member.

Pick up your badge from the machine

Make sure you are always wearing your badge when you are in the space

Take a seat and wait for your host to come inside

By now, the host will have gotten an email telling them that you have checked in and are waiting for them in the lobby. If they do not come within 5 minutes, feel free to call, text, or email them in case they missed the arrival notification.
