Getting started with Bizminer

A quick guide for IBBA members

  1. 1. Go to app.bizminer.com/login

    If you're an active IBBA member, you already have a Bizminer Account. If necessary, use the forgot password link to reset your password.

  2. 2. Click on LETS GO

  3. 3. Click on START RESEARCHING

    Your IBBA member benefit includes 5 report credits and 100 list credits. To start, we recommend pulling our Industry Financial Profile for a current client. This profile will provide you with an industry avg. P&L, balance sheet, industry ratios, and valuation multiples. It's great for seeing how your client's financials compare to industry peers, and for enhancing CIMs.

  4. 4. Select an Industry

    Our Financial Profile is available for over 5,000 Industries, so take your time and make sure you find the best match. You can search by keyword, NAICS code, or by clicking on the name of a sector and going through an industry drill down.

    For example, typing in NAICS code 238220 will bring up the Plumbing and HVAC industry.

  6. 6. Click on Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning Contractors [238220]

    After you find the best match, click on the name of the industry to make your selection.

  7. 7. Click on Industry

    This will minimize the industry search drop down menu.

  8. 8. Select a Market Area

    Next, we will want to select a market area, which can be All US, a state, or a metro area. This allows you to get industry financial data that is specific to your clients local area.

    Click on an area to make your selection. Clicking on a state will reveal metro areas options within that state.

    This will minimize the market area drop down menu.

  11. 11. Select a Sales Class

    This is an important step, because you to compare your client to businesses of a similar size.

    Select a revenue range that your client falls within.

  13. 13. Click on Sales Class

    This will minimize the sales class drop down menu.

  14. 14. Click on Access Now

    After our database does some calculations, you'll see an option to "Access Now"

  16. 16. Industry Financial Profile download

    The profile may take 30-60 seconds to download. You'll see a "data loaded" notification pop-up and the different sections of the report along the left hand side will become active.

  17. 17. Navigate the profile

    explore all the profile had to offer, including and industry average profit & loss statement, balance sheet, industry ratios, valuation multiples, and more.

  18. 18. download other formats

    Use the PDF and CSV icons in the upper right corner to download/export the information in other formats.

  19. 19. My Data

    This profile, as well as any other product you access will be stored under My Data at the bottom left corner of the web app.

    Click on My Account in upper right corner to view/update account information

    This area will show your remaining report and list credits
