Created Jun 26, 2022Getting 500 Errors for one bib or item? Try this!
Instead of opening the record by clicking on the title, click to edit the record or the items at the lower right hand side of the record. If you get a 500 error when you're clicking on the titles in the results page, click Edit Record. If you're getting the 500 with a specific item in the record, click Edit Items.
In this example I'm going to click Edit Record.

There are two things that can happen here, that could lead to three results.
Koha will tell you why it can't save - this is the case in the picture. What happened is probably that when this record was imported into Koha, it didn't have a required field set. Now that the record is in use, it's not opening because it's angry about it. See step 5 for next steps on this.
The record will save with no issues, and the record will work fine after that. This was probably an encoding error that made Koha mad. Saving it made Koha realize it wasn't a dealbreaker, and it went on with its life.
The record will save with no issues, and the record still won't work. If this happens, you can check the individual items the same way as discussed in step 2. Also, if this is happening, feel free to send it to us, and we'll investigate what the issue is.
