This function is how you set the governing rules for any academic statuses that your school might have. Essentially, this is where you can define SAP statuses. The default setting for each rule is in clock hours. But, if toggled, you can define rules by total percent. This guide is done with the percent function toggled on.

Choose the academic status for which you want to define a rule.
You can only define one rule at a time. You can create an unlimited number of individual rules.

Set the time parameters for your rule.
Here, the example rule applies for the whole program. Therefore, the example rule goes from 0% of program elapsed time, to 100%. If you wanted to set a rule that only applied for the latter half of a program, you would set the minimum to "50" and the max to "100."
Additionally, if you are set to the "hours" default instead of the percentages option, you can just manually define the hours here. For example, if you wanted a rule to apply to the first 150 hours of a program, you would set the minimum to "0" and the maximum to "150."

If setting an attendance-based rule, fill out the "Cumulative Time" boxes.
If using percentages, set as a percent of the total that applies to the status. Here, since I am setting an example "at risk" rule, I defined the minimum as 75%. Thus, anything between 75% and the upper bound (of 85%) attendance, would leave the student in an "at risk" status. Because I set this rule to apply for the entire program (between 0-100% of elapsed time), any time a student is between 75-85% attendance they will be labeled in an "at risk" status.
If using hours, you can use these two boxes to define the absolute number of hours that apply to the rule. E.g., for a 100-150 hour rule, you might say that any student with only 90-120 hours is "at risk."

If setting a grades based rule, fill out the "Cumulative GPA" boxes (and leave the cumulative time boxes blank)!
Similarly, for a grades based rule, you define acceptable statuses in the cumulative GPA box.
For example, you might add three different rules: 1) "meets SAP" defining the minimum as 2.5 and the maximum as 4.0. 2) "at risk" defining the minimum as 2.2 and the maximum as 2.5. 3) "does not meet SAP" defining the minimum as 0 and the maximum as 2.2. All of the rules could easily apply for the entirety of each program (meaning from 0 to 100 for the "elapsed time" box).
