Copying Content Between Canvas Courses
Log into the Ramapo College Intranet.
Click on Canvas and navigate to your course.
1. Click on "Import Existing Content."
You'll find this on the Home page of the course you're copying materials into. The menu is located in the top right corner of the page.

2. Select Content Type.
Click the drop-down menu next to Content Type and select "Copy a Canvas Course."

3. Choose the course you want to copy.
Your screen might look slightly different, but you can usually choose the course from a drop-down menu or search for it by name. Be sure to select the course from the correct term, which appears below the course title.

4. Check 'Include completed courses'.
If you can't find the course, make sure the box to "Include completed courses" is checked.

5. Choose the option to "Select specific content."
We recommend choosing this option instead of "All content" because it lets you copy only what you need, saving you time from having to delete unnecessary items in your new course.

6. Choose the option to "Adjust events and due dates".

7. Adjust dates.
We suggest selecting "Adjust events and due dates" and then choosing "Remove dates." This will make it easier and faster to set up your new course with updated dates.

8. Optional: Import assessment as New Quizzes.
If you previously used Classic Quizzes but now use New Quizzes, selecting this option will convert your existing Classic Quizzes and Question Banks into New Quizzes and Item Banks during the import.

9. Click on 'Add to Import Queue'.

10. Click on "Select content".
After adding the import to the queue, it will appear in the import list with a red box at the end. Click "Select Content" to choose the specific items you want to copy into your course.

11. Select Content for Import.
Choose all the content you want to copy into your course.
Some items may have more options you can view by clicking the down arrows next to them.
Avoid selecting "Announcements" unless you plan to reuse them.
If you do copy them, make sure to either delay their posting or delete any that don’t apply, so students don’t see outdated or irrelevant messages.

12. Click on "Select Content".
Once you have chosen the content you want to copy, click on "Select Content".

13. Check 'Status'.
Your import will first appear as "Queued", then a progress bar will display as the content is being copied. When the process is complete, the status will change to "Completed."
