Starting on the homepage for Altmetric Explorer

Click on EDIT SEARCH

Enter one or more author names from your institution.

If your ORCID is up-to-date, you can search using that. Alternatively, if you have a list of scholarly identifiers such as a list of DOIs, ISBNs, etc, you can search using them.

Click on the author's name that you are looking for.

Click on Full Altmetric database

Click on RUN SEARCH

To find patent citation information, hover over the purple section on the coloured bar, then click on PATENTS

The number of results are listed at the top of the page.

The list shows the patents that are citing the author's research.

To find out more information about the patent, click on the title of the patent (opens a new page).

The author's research that has been cited has a Tick on the donut.

To see more information on the cited research, click on the title.

To check that this is definitely the author's paper, at the top of the screen, click on [show] if their name is not automatically visible.

Click on MORE to see how that research output is performing in Altmetric Explorer's eyes.
