Setting Up OneDrive for Business

If you have Windows 11, OneDrive for Business is already installed, and just needs you to log in. Follow these directions to do so 😀

Open Google Chrome (or if it's already open, hit the Plus sign to open a new Tab).

Use that new tab to go to portal.office.com

...and your password (which should be the same as your computer password). Then click the Sign in button.

You can Stay signed in (or not) - but only say Yes if you're logging in on your Trusted-assigned device. You can also stop it from showing that reminder by checking on the box.

Click on the Apps icon on the middle left...

...and then hit the OneDrive button.

You should see all of your OneDrive files when you click on My Files, including any of the folders you've chosen or been assigned shortcuts to.

To use Windows Explorer to use and edit those files and folders, open a new Tab by clicking on the plus icon again.

You're looking specifically for the OneDrive For Business page from the Microsoft Partner site. It should look identical to the link you see below.

Near the left top of the page, you'll see "Download OneDrive for Business". Click on this (it won't actually download, but it'll forward you to the auto-configuration page for OneDrive for Business...

And this is why you needed to log in to OneDrive first. OneDrive will detect your settings, and try to open the app and configure it for you. Click "always allow" to allow Microsoft to open OneDrive for you, and then click Open Microsoft OneDrive.

Your login credentials should automatically propagate, and you'll be able to skip a few of these steps. If they did NOT propagate, you can follow each step below and it'll still work fine in the end. So, if it's not propagated, type in your email address again...

Click through the Next buttons until you get to this one. Wait for it to scan all three folders.

One it does, you should see accurate data on how big your Documents, Pictures, and Desktop folders are (they should not be 0 kb like mine are here 😀 Click Start Backup.

Keep hitting Next until you get here, and click Later instead. Then click "Open my OneDrive folder", and you should be set!
