Created Nov 07, 2022Marking Email as Junk or Phishing
Junk - usually an advertisement of some sort for a store/product/service or any other unwanted email from an untrusted source. Think of junk email as a digital form of the junk mail you get to your home address.
Phishing - Phishing is a message disguised as something from a trusted source/company. It is important to NEVER click on anything in these emails. These emails can seem urgent in nature, friendly, time sensitive, etc. to grab your attention. Phishing attempts are meant to steal personal information. When in doubt about a phishing attempt, contact the sender directly by phone and verify if the email is legitimate, otherwise, mark it as phish.
New Outlook:
If you're using the new Outlook, there are a couple of ways to report Phish attempts.
In the list of emails, right click the one you want to report as phish. Go down to "Report." Click Report phishing and that's it!

The second way to report phishing from the new Outlook is to click on the email, on the right side of the email, in the preview, click the 3 dots at the top right corner. Scroll down and click on Phish Alert V2 and it'll thank you for reporting and delete the email.
