ADMIN: Create Coupon Codes and Categories

Coupon Categories will allow you to group multiple codes together that discount the same ticket types the same amount. For example, all codes that discount Adult, Senior, Student and Child tickets 100% off can go in the same category. If there is a discount that discounts 50% off the same ticket types, it would need it's own category.

This should give information about what the codes in this category will be used for and what discounts they will be linked to in the various events. For more information, please see the Business Rules document.

This can be the same as Name with any additional information that is relevent to what the codes/discounts will be used for. In the example below, I added in (All Ticket Types) so that anyone adding this category to an event knows it's meant to link to the 100% off discount that works for all ticket types.

This is NOT the code customers/staff will use to apply the discount.

Below are all the fields and what they are used for. Please see the Business Rules document for when the various optional fields should be used.

• Name: identifier will show up in the Back Office. We recommend naming the coupon something easily identifiable (e.g. "$2 off Adult GA").

• Code: this is the actual code a customer or POS agent will enter during check out. For record-keeping, it can help to make this code descriptive (e.g. "WINTER$5OFF"). This is displayed in the POS for agents to select.

• Description: this is displayed on the POS under the code, and can be used to give agents additional information, like redemption rules or limits you want them to enforce. While optional, it is recommended.

• Program Name: optional, though you can use this field if you're creating coupons for a specific program, and want to be able to track them in Reports.

• Company Name: optional, though you can use this field if you're creating coupons for a specific company, and want to be able to track them in Reports.

• Organization: optional, though you can use this field if you're creating coupons that can only be used by a specific organization, and want to be able to track them in Reports.

• Coupon Category: The Coupon Category you want this coupon to be associated with. All coupons in the same category will trigger the same discount for any events they are configured on.

• Eff. Start Date: the date the coupon will become valid to use (not related to the date of an event ticket).

• Eff. End Date: the last date the coupon will be valid to use (not related to the date of an event ticket).

• Notes: optional

This is the code that will be given to customer/staff to use to apply the discount

In Point of Sale, associates will see this description when searching for discounts. You can enter in relevent discount information here.

Since we want this code to discount General Admission, the coupon category will be 100% General Admission.

Both must be filled out. If the discount will be available indefinitely, you can set the effective end date to a very far out date.

If you add a coupon that is already in another category, it will take it out of the original category and add it to the new one. Coupon codes can only be in one category.
