The Health Care roadmap lays out which plan covers each of the services international students have access to. if you are unsure of which plan you should be filing a claim under, please contact the DSU Health Plan Office and we'll be able to help you out. It would be best to get a pre-determination through Blue Cross if you are looking to claim for these services

If you have confirmed that you are making a claim under the Health &amp; Dental Plan, follow the steps below.

On the Student VIP  Home Page, click on make a claim

Click on Health & Dental Claims

Through Medavie Blue Cross, you are able to file a claim on the mobile app, online portal, or manually via mail or fax. This guide will take you through the process of how to register for Medavie Blue Cross and file a claim through the online portal.

Once on the claims page, choose which method you would like to use to file your claim

NOTE: Medavie Blue Cross is the insurance company that assesses and pays out your claims. No matter which method of submission you choose, the claim must be sent to them. However, if you need to submit a Travel claim, you must fill out a request using the form found on the claims page. Likewise, if you are submitting an Accident claim there is a form and steps laid out on the website to do so.

Click on the 'Click to Register' on the claims page

Read over the steps on how to register and Click the link as shown below to access the Medavie Blue Cross portal

Once in the Medavie Blue Cross portal, click on Register to create your account

<ul><li>Your Policy Number is 0091936000</li></ul><ul><li>Your Identification Number is: Your 9 Digit Student Number + 00. *replace the B with 0 Example: If your student number is B00123456, your ID number would be: 00012345600</li></ul>

Fill out the form below with your details and click 'Create your account' once you are done

From here, you can file a claim, check the status of your claims, receive support from Medavie Blue Cross, and view past claims.

When registration is complete, you will have access to the Medavie Blue Cross dashboard

Click on Submit a Claim to get started

Before you begin filling out your claim, read over the 4 questions asked and check the boxes as necessary. Then click 'I'm Ready'

If you have not set up direct deposit, you can do so by heading to the 'Manage my Account' section within the MBC portal and clicking Direct Deposit. You will need to have your branch/transit number, bank/institution number, and account number handy. Refer to the screenshot below to access the page.

If you have set up Direct Deposit within the Medavie Blue Cross portal, MBC will reimburse the amount owed for your claim within 3-5 business days

How to Interact with Blue Cross once a Claim has been Submitted

<ul><li>Claims can take up to 7 – 10 business days after the date you submit the information to be finalized by&nbsp;Medavie&nbsp;Blue Cross. This is not a guarantee that your claim will be completed in 10 business days as more information may be required from you to determine the status of your claim.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>If you don't hear back from Blue Cross after the 10 business days you may want to reach out to determine what the status of your claim is and if they require any additional information&nbsp;</li></ul>&nbsp;<ul><li>Claims decisions will be mailed to you, if your address is not listed on your Blue Cross account, the letter will be sent to the Health Plan Office who will reach out to your Dalhousie email address to confirm we have a letter for you to pick up or an address to send the letter to. If you have not heard back from your claim and have not received contact from the insurance provider or the Health Plan Office, you should reach out to&nbsp;Medavie&nbsp;Blue Cross for more information on the status of your claim.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li></ul>&nbsp;It is important to keep your contact information up to date on the Blue Cross portal so that you do not miss any communication from the insurance provider about your claim status. If you change addresses you should update Blue Cross.&nbsp;&nbsp;Time limit to submit claims:&nbsp;All claims must be submitted to&nbsp;Medavie&nbsp;Blue Cross™ no later than 12 months from the date the expense was incurred.&nbsp;In the event of termination of coverage, claims incurred prior to the termination date must be submitted to&nbsp;Medavie&nbsp;Blue Cross™ within 90 days of the termination date.&nbsp;Click&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" class="Hyperlink SCXO93288370 BCX4" href="http://machform.studentvip.ca/view.php?id=42592">here</a>&nbsp;to submit a claim from a previous plan year.&nbsp;
